Anna Dressed in Blood is coming to the big screen thanks to none other than Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight Saga. Meyer’s production company Fickle Fish Films works to bring new author’s work to the big screen.
The tagline for Kendare Blake’s 2011 ghost story is “just your average boy-meets-girl, girl-kills-people story.” Best. Tagline. Ever. The story follows Cas, a teenage hunter reminiscent of a young Dean Winchester from the television series Supernatural. Cas travels the country looking for new challenges, but when he tracks down Anna he finds “a ghost like he’s never faced before. She still wears the dress she wore on the day of her brutal murder in 1958: once white, now stained red and dripping with blood Since her death, Anna has killed any and every person who has dared to step into the deserted Victorian she used to call home. And she, for whatever reason, spares his life. ” (Description from KendareBlake.com)
Anna is sharply written and engaging. This book has it all: horror, romance, and wit. Scary enough for horror fans, Anna doesn’t toy around with her victims. She literally rips them apart. It is also beautifully written and haunting. Readers of young-adult paranormal romance will devour this book.
Meyer posted on the Fickle Fish Films website:
“From the moment I started reading this book, I knew it would be a beautiful story to tell cinematically…It’s scary, romantic, and grips you from start to finish. Audiences are going to fall in love with Anna.”
This is one of my favorite books and I’m excited that Meyer is producing the film. I love the idea of a book being brought to theatrical life by another author. I for one, will be lining up for Anna when it hits theaters.
Now I want to hear from you, what do you think of Meyer producing Anna and what are your favorite book-to-movie adaptations?
